Meet the team

I graduated with a Degree in Osteopathy in 1999 and have worked in a number of private clinics before setting up my own practice in Heaton Mersey and I also run a private practice from within a GP surgery in Wilmslow.

Having originally trained as a nurse I can draw on the knowledge and experience that I gained from working within the hospital environment. This enables me to have a fuller understanding of the underlying health issues which people present with from the medical perspective.

Since retraining as an osteopath I feel I am able to give time and a much more holistic approach to each person who comes for help.

Osteopathy does more than just help with immediate relief of pain. It is about giving you a better understanding of your problem and looking at all aspects of your life from what your posture is like at work to the type of exercise that will help you most so that you can achieve optimum health.

Kate first became interested in osteopathy when, as a keen horse rider, she saw the benefits of equine treatments first hand. It inspired her to want to discover more about the holistic nature of the profession and its beneficial effects and this eventually led her to train. She qualified as an osteopath following a 4 year Master’s degree at the British School of Osteopathy.

Her passion for osteopathy shows in her approach to you as an individual, listening to  your story and discovering with you the origins of the pain, what lifestyle elements may be affecting the dysfunction  and working with you to help you understand how best to look after your body once her treatment has reduced the initial discomfort.

She is interested in a wide range of conditions and recognises the negative effects  poor posture has on the body especially in this age of sitting for hours on end at computers at work and at home. She will work with you to improve posture to help reduce the pressures on your body and advise you on the best exercises for you as an individual.

Liz qualified in 1983 with a Diploma in Podiatry and later went on to complete a Degree in Podiatric Medicine. She brings with her many years of experience having worked for 13 years at Tameside and Glossop NHS Trust as a senior podiatrist. After this she spent some time in Africa supporting her husband in humanitarian work before returning to England and setting up in private practice.

She has experience in nail surgery, making orthotics (shoe inserts) and an interest in diabetes but mostly just enjoys ensuring that the people she treats leave feeling that they have been really well cared for and that their feet are much more comfortable.

Pauline is qualified and experienced in the practice of acupuncture and acupressure massage. She trained for 3 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council.

Pauline became interested in acupuncture after having treatment herself. Acupuncture helped improve her general health and sparked her interest in the Chinese approach to medicine.

Pauline attends regular courses to extend her skills and keeps up to date with the latest research. She also gained a distinction in her Masters qualification evaluating the impact of her acupuncture treatments during a 12-month pilot project of NHS patients in primary care.
